A survey of 500 business decision-makers by Heathrow Express shows that 35% - more than a third – of bosses lose sleep over working challenges. The report authors said the economy would receive a £580 billion annual boost if these problems were fixed.

They endure an average of 34 sleepless nights annually, or just over five hours wide-awake time per week. Concerns about the future of the economy and rising business overheads were the top reasons given.

The poll coincided with a new series of business clinics being held on Heathrow Express trains. The ‘Fifteen Minute Business Fixes’ give business travellers advice on the move. Around seven in 10 travellers using the service are on working assignments, it said.

Top challenges cited by respondents to the poll, conducted in late October, included weathering economic changes, rising overheads, finding qualified staff, innovating new products and raising investment funding.

Dragons’ Den star Sarah Willingham will kick off the business clinics tomorrow (Wednesday 6th) and will be riding the Heathrow Express doling out advice from 10am to 4pm.

“I do think having a business mentor – someone you respect, admire and, most importantly, trust – is tremendously important,” she said.

“I can’t tell you how much this has helped me over the years; it really helps you develop as a businessperson and stay on the road to success.

“That’s why I’ve embraced this project with, I hope that I can offer passengers my own advice and help others who are potentially facing similar challenges to those I have faced myself.”

Heathrow Express director Fraser Brown added: “Business advice doesn’t have to be lengthy and detailed; sometimes it’s the one liners that resonate with us and help offer a new perspective on the challenges we face.”
