When it comes to outsourcing in their business, many people find themselves completely overwhelmed at stressed out at the prospect because they simply don’t know where to start, but the truth is that outsourcing is pretty much the only way for you to grow and scale your business, so if you want to make things a success without burning out, then you’re really going to have to let go of some things at some point.

So, if you’re struggling to outsource anything in your business, then in this post, we’re going to share with you some tips for how to get started with outsourcing in your business.

Make a list:

The very first thing you need to do before you even start looking for people who can come aboard to help you in your business is to know what exactly you need help with - this will also help you to avoid the overwhelm that many face when it comes to outsourcing.

You first need to make a list of all the things you do in your business, and then split that list into two different categories: things you are able to do/enjoy doing, and things you are not great at and don’t enjoy doing. The first list you can keep doing and the second list are all the things you’re going to outsource.

For example, you know that marketing is a core part of your business that needs to be focused on, but perhaps it’s something you’re not best suited to, so you could either bring someone such as a freelancer on board to help with this or you could outsource to a marketing company for small business owners. Similarly, perhaps, you run a gym. You might be great at managing other people, communicating with your team, balancing the books, and teaching fitness classes, but when one of your machines breaks down, you're lost at sea. In this case, hiring a third company well-versed in commercial gym repair can be just what you need to limit your downtime and, in turn, boost your bottom line.

Set up your systems:

Every business needs a set of systems and processes to be able to operate effectively, so before you start thinking of bringing someone in, you need to have a system in place for on-boarding them.

This will include things like any logins they need to access your website and social media, and just an overview of how you run things and what you expect from them in terms of deadlines and deliverables each day.

Look for people:

Now is where the fun starts and you’re going to start actually looking for people to outsource to. The great thing is nowadays you truly have a lot of choice when it comes to outsourcing.

You can either give work to freelance contractors for specific tasks, or you can outsource to another company or even an agency who will basically give different tasks to different people depending on their individual strengths. Usually these agencies will oversee all of the project management, so this is an extra convenience that you’re paying for.

Do a trial run:

Outsourcing in your business is a relationship like any other that requires trust and communication, and sometimes things work out great, and other times not so much.

So, the best thing to do here is a trial run so that you can see if you and the person you’ve hired are a good fit for each other. If not, you can move on once the trial period is over without any hard feelings.
