Your regular, everyday office wear can be a little drab from time to time, so, spicing things up a little bit when you’re at work can make a whole world of difference when it comes to impressing your colleagues, and your boss.

You may be used to wearing the same black or navy suit everyday at work, which is all well and good, but, adding a few simple accessories may help you lift a normal look into something stylish.

If you’re sticking with the black or navy suit then you’re halfway there. Black and navy are great base colours to work different colour and pattern around with a few accessories. Taking a simple pocket square is a subtle way to add detail and colour to your look, as it’s minimal, yet draws the eye in.

Colour and pattern are major players when it comes to making your office wear more interesting. If you’re only flirting with the idea of colour in your wardrobe then keep it simple. Instead of a plain white button down shirt, opt for light blue or pink number instead. Teamed with a patterned or colourful tie, you can have a great office look with minimal effort.

The detail can also be on your suit itself, if you’re feeling brave that is. Why not try on a pinstripe suit for size, with a minimal pattern, it allows you to keep a classic and well tailored look without being too out there and in your face for the office.

Your shoes say a lot about you, especially when you’re in the office, so you must always have your shoes in tip top condition and bang on trend. When you’re wearing a suit, you’ll want to stick to the classics, so go for a brogue, penny loafers or even a pair of Chelsea boots. If you do go for a pair of loafers, then leave the socks at home.

If you’re feeling more adventurous, and if your office permits it, then why not tackle one of this season’s biggest trends, wearing trainers with your suit. Now this may sound a little odd to many of you, but trust me, it works. Again, you don’t want to go too out there with colour or pattern, so stick to a good ole pair of white trainers, classic and understated.

Office wear doesn’t have to be boring, as much as people like to think it is. You can liven up a simple black or navy suit with a few key accessories that will grab people’s attention (preferably your boss) and you can become the new office style icon.

Mix up your shirt colours to give you a bit of variety and detail so that you aren’t sticking to the bog standard white button down, and maybe throw in a patterned or colourful tie for good measure.

Taking a pair of classic white trainers and teaming them with your suit will instantly give you a bang on trend and stylish appearance (if your office permits it of course). Wearing them with no socks (or invisible ones if you have them) will create a sleek and subtle look that will impress.
