When it comes to choosing a career, you could spend years working out what it is that you want to do. It can seem like your options are working in an office, working in an office, and… working in an office.
But it doesn’t have to be like this, and there are many unique careers out there if you don’t want to follow the crowd.
All you have to do is know what they actually are, and know what work you have to do to secure them, and it’s not always as difficult as you think. Read on if you want to know what your options are, and how you can get yourself on the path to new career success.
Home care
If you are someone looking to truly make a difference in society and people's lives, a career in home care can be an excellent choice. By choosing home care jobs, you can have the opportunity to directly contribute to the well-being of individuals who often require assistance, such as the elderly or disabled.
Through this direct engagement, you can build meaningful, personal connections with your clients. You will not only enhance their quality of life but can also support them in maintaining their independence and dignity within the comfort of their own homes.
Most importantly, the fulfillment you will experience from knowing that you are positively impacting someone's life every day makes home care a profoundly rewarding career path. It's ideal for those who are passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of others and contributing positively to their communities.
All you need to do is research local agencies, healthcare facilities, and community organizations that offer home care services. Tailor your resume to highlight relevant experience, certifications, and skills such as empathy, patience, and effective communication. Also, make sure to obtain any required licenses or certifications specific to your area, such as nursing assistant or home health aide certifications.
All you have to do is know what they actually are, and know what work you have to do to secure them, and it’s not always as difficult as you think. Read on if you want to know what your options are, and how you can get yourself on the path to new career success.
Body painter
If you want to get an artistic career, and you’re also looking for a freelance role, body painting could be for you. Most body painters don’t have college degrees, so you don’t have to have gone to art school to make this career work out for you.
All you need is some artistic abilities and the skills to be able to come up with some kind of vision, and you’ll be well on your way to holding this unique role.
You’ll need to get a good deal of practice in and you’ll also have to pay out initially for some supplies, but if you can get some willing family members and friends to let you practice on them (or you could alternatively practice on yourself) you’ll soon get a profit from your endeavours.
Whilst you may start out working for other artists, you can make it big and do body painting for adverts and films eventually.
Aviation
If you’d prefer a career where your feet aren’t necessarily firmly on the floor, why not go for a role in aviation? There are plenty of different job opportunities out there, from commercial pilots to air traffic controllers, and if you’re looking for something that focuses more on the engineering side of things, you can also look into aeronautical engineering.
Don’t just think that there is one role out there in aviation - being a pilot - as there are a large variety of roles for you to look into if you’re interested. If you’re looking for a career in this area then getting a degree will set you up for success, so have a look into the top 10 U.S. aviation universities if you want to be at the forefront of your field.
There are a variety of choices out there with different course lengths, costs, and programs offered, so do a bit of research if you believe that this unique career could be for you. For instance, if you're interested in becoming a professional pilot, you can learn more about the process here to understand the steps, requirements, and training involved.
Car dealer
Whilst you may not think that this is the most unique role out there, working for a car dealership (or starting up your own) is a great role if you don’t want to be in the office all of the time, and you like talking to people.
You have to be good at sales to do this role, as you’ll have to really sell your products to clients, and your salary could be largely influenced by commission and how many cars you can manage to sell.
This is a skill that you develop throughout your career, but coming into the role with great communication skills will help you to get stuck into it.
Not only this, but it would certainly help if you have a passion for cars and you have the knowledge to back this passion up, as you’ll need to know everything that you possibly can to sell them to your potential customers.
Ethical hacker
If you’re a big technology whizz and you’d like to put your skills to good use, why not get a job as an ethical hacker? What this entails is pretty simple: you have to try and hack into a business website or their other data, to show them that it is either secure, or at risk to other hackers that may not have the best of intentions.
After showing them the vulnerabilities in their system, you can then help them to make it secure. You don’t need to have a degree, but studying something like computer science or ethical hacking itself could help you, and there are courses out there that are specifically designed to teach you all that there is to know about hacking.
Whilst hacking sounds like a role perfect for bad guys, you’ll be helping to protect the data of millions of people, so look into this ethical career if you want to put your technology skills to good use.
Yoga teacher
Whilst there are many technology and engineering based roles out there, you may feel that you prefer the world of fitness (and a bit of spirituality to boot). If you find the idea of teaching a group of people the art of yoga an attractive prospect, then why not become a yoga teacher?
All you need to do to get this role is to learn yoga to a pretty high level (of course), complete a teaching course so that you know all there is to know about sharing your skills with others, and register yourself as a teacher.
Then you can get to work with putting on classes, and building up a loyal group of people who want to learn the skills from you.
Of course, it’s also pretty useful to have good communication skills, and an open and warm disposition, as you want everybody to feel comfortable, especially the beginners.
So…
There are many unique careers out there just waiting for people like you to train up, and get ready to take the world by storm.
Whether you’re looking for a role in something like aviation or car dealership, or you’d prefer to have a career that is based upon something more artistic like body painting or yoga teaching, there are plenty of things out there that will enable you to say goodbye to the boring office job, and hello to the career of your dreams.
Good luck!
