Mint Formations opened the pitch competition to all entrants early in November. The winner will be awarded a £1,000 cash prize to go towards their tuition costs or starting up their dream business venture.

Anyone over the age of 16 who is currently studying a business course in the UK is eligible to enter. Courses include university degrees, A-Levels and other types of qualifications relating to business.

Those studying online courses or long-distance learning can also enter the competition, as can those studying a non-specific qualification that includes business-related modules — for example, a sports studies degree with modules in business management.

To enter, students need to submit a written business pitch to Mint Formation’s panel of judges, of a maximum of 1000 words. Judges are looking for exciting ideas and new concepts that could realistically be established as a modern-day business. Guidelines of what to include in the pitch include:

  • The foundations of the business idea
  • Who the target market is
  • How the target market is going to be reached
  • Details on how the business will be financed
  • How the business is going to turn a profit.

The contest closes on February 28th, 2020. Entry is free. All details for the competition, including FAQs and entry requirements, can be found at https://www.mintformations.co.uk/student-contest/.

To enter, business students can either follow the link to the website or submit their business idea to competition@mintformations.co.uk. Emails should include a brief introduction, alongside the pitch attached as a Word doc or PDF. The subject of the email should be as follows:

Competition Entry - Name - School/College/University.

Rajesh Velayuthasamy, owner and Director of Mint Formations, said: “We’re inspired every day by the innovative ideas and concepts our clients devote their lives to and want to help a new generation of business minds find their feet. Our hope is that our competition will help uncover amazing new talents and that the grant will be used to ensure their dreams become a reality.”
