Online retail behemoth Amazon has unveiled a new service in partnership with Twitter allowing users to reserve products by tweeting the hashtag #amazonbasket.
The hashtag must be used in reply to a tweet containing a link to an Amazon product and users must go to the Amazon website itself to complete the purchase.
In a video introducing the tie-up Amazon UK said: “Simply find a tweet containing an Amazon.co.uk product link, reply with #AmazonBasket, and check out when you are ready, as the product has been quickly and easily saved in your Amazon.co.uk Shopping Basket.”
Twitter had 255 million active users in the first quarter of 2014 and despite the business losing $132 million (£78 million) in revenue during that time, brands are eager to take advantage of the large audience it brings.
