Sainsbury’s chief executive Justin King will leave in July, following a decade at the helm, the supermarket chain has announced.
He will be replaced by Mike Coupe, currently the business’ commercial director.
In a statement, Mr King said: "This was not an easy decision for me to make, and in truth it will never feel like the right time to leave a company like Sainsbury's."
He will exit the business after the annual shareholders’ conference on 9 July.
