Tickets which work three days-a-week were unveiled yesterday and will go on sale from January 2015, potentially saving part-timers and home-workers hundreds of pounds a year.
"The Mayor's plan for part time season tickets makes a lot of sense and national government should be looking to roll it out more widely,” said Campaign for Better Transport chief Stephen Joseph.
“Giving more of the country's eight million part time workers access to cheaper and more flexible train and bus tickets would help ease the cost of living and support the economy."
The plan could also include rebates for people who under-use their season tickets, has been reported.
