London’s commuters are to face misery after two extended strikes were called on the Tube.

A 48-hour strike is due to begin at 9pm on the London Underground network after talks between authorities and unions fell apart yesterday.

Member of two unions, the Maritime and Transport union (RMT) and the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) will also walk out for two days starting on 11 February.

Plans to remove staff from ticketing halls and replacing them with machines is said to be the main reason for action.

Transport of London (TfL) said it would run a limited service with trains stopping at certain stations and not others.
