University of London is inviting technology start-ups in the education sector to pitch ideas to an audience of education specialists, IT directors, CIOs and senior managers.

The event will be staged at the university’s Computer Centre's annual Future of Technology in Education (FOTE) conference. A shortlist of 10 start-ups will pitch to the 340 delegates at the conference.

Start-ups will receive mentoring and feedback on their ideas, potentially with a view to a closer relationship with the university. Businesses should apply if they are developing a prototype, refining an idea or already have a working product or service.

Frank Steiner at ULCC said the idea was a natural progression from previous competitions targeting digital entrepreneurs.

“The idea for this competition was partly inspired by a similar start-up event at Thinking Digital earlier this year, plus it is a natural extension of the 140 Challenge we held at a previous conference. We’re excited to see what new and innovative ideas people will bring to the table.”
