London's City Hall is to host 100 talented young entrepreneurs who are vying to be named ‘young entrepreneur of the year’ at the Inspiresme Week 2014 final.

The competition is a Dragons’ Den-style programme challenging youngsters aged 16-to-18 from seven schools in London to promote their own ideas for new start-ups.

The group spent the last week shadowing small businesses within the Workspace Group office-sharing network, learning diverse skills from marketing to graphic design.

Each team must now develop a business idea and will work with people from Business in the Community (BITC) and other volunteers before pitching their idea to a panel of judges.

Competition organisers emphasised the importance of young people getting a wide range of opportunities to help prepare them for life after education.

Caroline Rowley, senior manager for education at BITC, said: “Inspiresme week has opened the door to a whole host of businesses that can excite and inspire our young entrepreneurs of the future to make their dreams a reality."

Now in its third year, Inspiresme Week was set up by the Mayor of London in partnership with Workspace Group, a London-based provider of tailored office space to new and growing businesses.
