Computer hackers have accessed customer details on the US-based crowdfunding website Kickstarter, although the firm says the damage has been limited.
The hack took place on Wednesday night last week and unauthorised activity was reported on two accounts.
No credit card or financial data was stolen said Yancey Strickler, co-founder and head of comms at Kickstarter, in blog post.
“Accessed information included usernames, email addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and encrypted passwords,” read the post.
“Actual passwords were not revealed, however it is possible for a malicious person with enough computing power to guess and crack an encrypted password, particularly a weak or obvious one.”
The site is advising customers to renew passwords on Kickstarter and on other sites where the same password is used.
