South Korean technology giant Samsung has unveiled its new Galaxy S5 handset to generally positive reviews.

The new phone is a direct competitor to Apple’s iPhone range and features a larger screen, faster processing power and slightly less weight than its predecessor, the S4.

It features a finger print scanner, allowing payments through PayPal to be conducted with a finger swipe, and has a 16 megapixel camera, heart rate monitor and is water resistant.

“We’ve decided to go back to basics with the Galaxy S5 and focus on the features and things that matter the most to our customers,” said Simon Stanford at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland.

“Namely the camera, ability to view and download data and content quickly and their health and wellbeing,” he added.
